Book design for "Larp, Universe and everything"" - an anthology of articles on the theory and practice of live role-playing, published in conjunction with the annual Nordic Larp conference, "Knutpunkt" (in norwegian).

Decisions on layout, typography and other aspects of visual design serve a common goal - to provide an excellent reading experience. As the included articles vary in style and level of difficulty to access, the choice of design was minimalistic, avoiding decorative elements, directing the readers attention towards the content, ehancing readibility and legibility.

A PDF version of the book was also published online.

Context

The design was a volunteer work for the live role-playing community in Norway.

The Knutepunkt book series have evolved from amateur publications in the late 90s into a format remniscent of an academic journal on role-playing, often cited as if it were. At the same time, many of the recepients are hobbyist role-players who have found past Knutepunkt books a difficult read, and "Larp , the Universe and Everything" placed particular emphasis on making the content accessible for a lay readership.
